Caverly, Robert L. of Clio, age 73, died Friday, April 18, 1997 at his residence. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 - 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 22, 1997 at the Clio Whipple Funeral Homes with Rev. Fr. Jan King officiating. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Clio Library or the Michigan Heart Association.
Mr. Caverly was born on May 6, 1923 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Clayton Caverly and Maude Ramona (Poland) Caverly. Mr. Caverly married Edith Elizabeth Horsman in Flint, MI on July 1946. Robert lived in the Flint area most of his life and for years he was active in bird dog and beagle field trials. He was an eager hunter and trained dogs and horses.
Surviving are wife Edith Caverly; 3 daughters, Diana McNeil of Flint, Dawn Hamilton of Texas and Roberta and husband, Mike Harrison of Clio; brother Bruce and wife Dian Kinzer of Kansas, sister Betty Ikerd of Florida; 9 grandchildren, Richard Becker, Michelle Becker Summers, Scott, Brian and Kevin McNeil, Robert "John" Stradler, Vickie Stradler, Shannon Harrison Niekdecken and Terry Harrison; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Robert Caverly was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Herschel Caverly; a sister Barbara; and grandson Shawn Harrison.
