Civil War Veteran,

Victor, his sister Emelia, father Dr. Michael Horony and half brothers and sisters emigrated to the United States from Pest (later Budapest) via steamship in 1860. The Horony family moved and settled into Davenport, Iowa and Victor enlisted into the military in August of 1862.

After the death of his father in 1865, Victor left the military and began working in a men's clothier/hat shop in Davenport. Sadly, on more than one occasion Victor attempted to take his life. It was reported in the Davenport news that Victor tried to use morphine to end his life as well. Some speculated that Victor was "Not right" after a riding accident caused Victor to suffer a head trauma.

Victor is the the half brother of Old West legend, Mary Katherine Cummings, alias "Big Nose Kate"
