Arthur always claimed in stories to his son that the family was descended from Danish royalty on his mother's side (both parents were Danish immigrants), and from Leif Ericksen on his father's. In January of 2011, with leads from Ancestry.com, it appears that he was at least partially correct! Descent back through his paternal Iversdatter, Nielsen, Pedersen, Jensen, Schielderup, Banner, Panter etc. his lineage (24+ generations) goes all the way back to King Valdemar I The Great of Denmark (1131-1182) and Valdemar's father, Canute/Knud Lavard- who was a Prince & Duke of Denmark and a Catholic Saint!
