Richard W. Palmer of Eagle Rock Rd. Oil City, PA died unexpectedly at 7:09 P.M. Saturday July 17, 2010 at home. Born in Franklin, PA on June 22, 1921 son of the late Clarence and Ruth Agnes Ward Palmer and was raised in Siverly. Before moving to Oil City he had previously lived in the Castle Shannon area of Pgh. for many years. He was a retired Foreman at the Continental Can Co. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II. Later in life Mr. Palmer became legally blind and enjoyed bowling, playing cards and square dancing with his fellow disabled friends as well as vegetable gardening. Mr. Palmer was married to the former Eileen Hogenmiller on Nov. 28, 1964 and she predeceased him Dec. 30, 2001. Survivors include three daughters Mrs. Thomas (Barbara)Tenney of Oil City and Carol Palmer and Beverly McQuiston of Plumer with whom he resided; 3 grandchildren: Kim, Stephen and Crystal and by 3 great grandchildren Greg, Allye and Ariana. One sister, Dorothy Chandler and husband George (Uncle Dick)of FL and a half brother, Edward Palmer also of FL. Also by his former wife Doris Adams Palmer Tenney Kuhn of Oil City. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. He was predeceased by brother, Leonard (Duke) Palmer and his step-mother, Mary Palmer. At his request there will be no viewing or visitation. Private services will take place at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Pgh.
