However, thanks to Familysearch.org, I have been able to locate her husband, Nathaniel "Nat" Burge Cannon, a native of Georgia. He was born Nov 16, 1854 in Stilesboro, Bartow Co., Georgia to Russell H. and Eliza Ann (Burge) Cannon. Following his marriage to Maud Turk Webb, the couple made their home in Stilesboro, Bartow Co., GA. where Nat was the Postmaster. He died on June 5th, 1930 from Pneumonia and was buried at Stilesboro Methodist Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, Bartow Co., Georgia. Maud never remarried.
Maud is included in Webb family photographs and she is listed as "Aunt Maude". I requested a photo of her headstone and Andy was kind enough to do this for me, so now have that with dates of her birth and death. I have been attempting to find records of her thru both MyHeritage.com and Familysearch.org. It just doesn't make sense that she was not included in family censuses and I wish I'd talked with my father about it before he passed away, but, when I did ask about different family members his memory was an issue, most likely due to Parkinson's Disease [or just not wanting to say]. It would help immensely if I could see her death certificate from 1963 or her obituary from a local newspaper. Also, she is listed as Maud Webb Turk Cannon and now am wondering if she was married twice, her 1st husband being a Mr. Turk. More research is needed.....

I have found Maud living with her sister-in-law, Sarah Willa (Gatlin) Webb, my great grandmother, when the 1940 Census was taken on Apr 8, 1940. In addition to Maud in the home, Willa also had four lodgers living in the house, when the census was taken.

My father's dear aunt's 1st husband has been located by New Find a Grave member (and relative!), Melissa Shehee. He was Dr. Fred Vandegraff Turk, 1869-1917, buried at Stilesboro Methodist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, Bartow Co., Georgia. He was a physician, the son of a physician; it is interesting to note that two of his brothers also became doctors.
He and Maude had four children together. Tragically, three of them died in infancy:
Willis Westmoreland Turk was born Sep 30, 1895 and died Jun 14, 1897
Joel Francis Turk was born July 29, 1898 and died March 20, 1900
Katherine Elizabeth Turk was born Apr 8, 1903 and died Jun 14, 1903 at the age of 2 months, 6 days.
The eldest, their 1st born, John Robert Turk, was born Sep 25, 1892 and outlived his younger siblings. He was a noted baseball player with a promising career when he suffered from "Lock Jaw" )(Tetanus) and Pneumonia, dying at the age of 20 years and joining his brothers and sister in Heaven. He, his 2 brothers and sister are all buried at the same cemetery as their father, who died within the next four years. I can only imagine Maude's grief. She did remarry, to Mr. Cannon, but never had any more children. May they all Rest in Eternal Peace in Heaven, together forever.
Thank you, again, Melissa.
