DOVER - Deacon Charles D. Schladenhauffen, a retired Major in the U.S. Air Force, 78, of Greenland, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at St. Ann Health and Rehab Center in Dover, after a long illness.

Born Nov. 20, 1931, in West Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Benjamin and Clara Schladenhauffen.

He retired in 1981 after 30 years in the Air Force, as security police squadron commander at Pease. He was ordained a Deacon on Dec. 10, 1983, and served at St. Thomas Moore in Durham and Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth.
