The 5th of 9 children born to Britton C. Hulitt
and Elizabeth Troth in Highland County.

He came to Illinois and married Kate Wysong.
in St. Clair Co. and lived in Canton, then
later lived in Ipava, Fulton County.
He was the father of 4 children (Mary, Lovie
Starlie, and one more that died young)

Nathan Hulit, merchant, Ipava, was born in Ohio in 1836, reared on a farm, well educated, clerked in a store, came to this State in 1857, commenced merchantile business in Ipava in 1869, and prospered well. In 1859 he married Cassandra Wysong, Mr. Hulit carries $6,000 worth of stock in general merchandice, and also deals in produce. -(History of Fulton County Illinois pub 1869)
