Dorothy Kristine Svinth
Dorothy Kristine Svinth, 70, of Waldport, Ore., died July 19, 2010 in Corvallis, Ore.
She was born July 9, 1940 to Ethel B. Sanden and Kenneth L. Huffman in Billings, Mont. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Wash. in 1958, and that same year she was a Daffodil princess.
On Aug. 15, 1958, she married Dick Svinth in Tacoma. They moved to Waldport and lived there for 30 years and had three daughters. She fulfilled her wish of living on the Oregon coast and traveled to 33 states with her husband in their RV.
During her life, she worked for Dillinger Photography Studio, Catch the Wind, Embarcadero and Complete Glass.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, and traveling in her RV. She also enjoyed helping others, especially cancer patients, and she had a love of music that she expressed through playing her piano and organ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Kenneth Huffman; brother, Dennis Huffman; and granddaughter, Christina Hooker.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Svinth of Waldport; three daughters, Denise (Greg) Schaecher of Toledo, Crystal (Doug) Buchheit of Salem, and Holly (Aundre) Pace of Plainfield, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Mario Pastega House Operating Fund, 3505 NW Samaritan Dr., Corvallis, OR 97330.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 24. at Yaquina Bay Yacht Club, 750 SE Bay Blvd. in Newport. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery, followed by a reception at the yacht club.
