US Congressman. Served during World War I in the United States Army as a Private in the 69th Regiment, 165th Infantry Division. He saw comabt in France, was wounded, and received the Purple Heart. Elected to represent New York's 16th District in the United States House of Representatives on two seperate occasions. First served from 1939 to 1941, then served from 1943 to 1945.
