He was sent to Mare Island for three months training and then to Quantico, Virginia where he finished his training. He left for France on January 19th and arrived in France February 8, 1918. He was sent right to the front. He was in the 79th Company, 6th Regiment, Second Battalion Marine Corps, U.S.A.”
