Fiske, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, A.E.F., near Fossoy, France, 15 July 1918. Captain Fiske fearlessly led his troops in a counterattack through intense artillery fire, inspiring his men by his gallant conduct. He lost his life while in the performance of this act.
