The son of John Sr. and Vera (Britton) Edwinson. Grew up in Wilmington, Massachusetts, where he played on the Wilmington High School football team. Graduated 1938.
Enlisted USMC on 22 October 1940. Served with Company A, First Battalion, 7th Marines during World War II. Killed in action in an ambush on Guadalcanal, 24 September 1942.
"Eddie" was buried in the field, and his remains were declared non-recoverable after the war. His case is currently under investigation by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
