--Son of John Pepper Atkinson & his 2nd wife Theodora Phelps Ellis. John moved to GA with his family as a young child.
--He graduated from Emory College (now Univ.) in 1871 "sharing first honors". He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1872.
--Occupation: Teacher at Senoia High School 1873-1885. Then he became a Merchant.
--Theodore married Mary Lou Cook; they had 10 children, all of whom had Cook as a middle name.
--He served as Steward, Treasurer & Sunday School Supt. of Newnan United Methodist Church.
--He served as president of the Board of Education, Newnan. He was President of Board of Directors for Georgia State College for Women. He also served on the Board of Trustees for University of Georgia.
