MARTIN. Pvt. George L. Martin, 18, son of Mr, and Mrs. Earl Martin of Prospect Valley, near Shinnston, was killed in action July 19 in France, his parents were informed Friday by the war department. Pvt. Martin, in the infantry, entered the service last Dec. 15 and received his training at Camp Croft, S.C. He had been overseas since June 28. He was a member of the 1944 graduating class of Shinnston high school, receiving his diploma after he entered the service. He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Shinnston. His father is a prominent farmer and dairyman.
Surviving are his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth May of Lumberport and Mrs. Margaret King of Detroit, Mich.
