JAMES STEEL MADE EXECUTOR
Mary L. Steel Leaves Estate Valued at $55,000; Property in Trust.
Mary L. Steel's will, disposing of an estate valued at $55,000, was admitted to probate in the County Court yesterday by County Judge Cleeton. She died November 10. The will was made July 9, 1908, when she was 74 years old, and was witnessed by Robert Collier and Hannah L. Collier.
The will cuts off the husband, James Steel, with an income of $100 a month; none of the property being left to him, although he is named as executor of the will to act without bonds, and trustee of all the real estate, which is left to the four children. Judge Cleeton appointed him yesterday in accordance with the provisions of the will.
Mrs. Josephine S. Warrens, Ms. Caroline S. Ewing, James M. Steel and Mrs. Evelyn S. Walthew, the children are specifically bequeathed $250 each. While the real estate is placed I trust with their father, he is required to give them an accounting once a year, and may not incumber the property without the written consent of each of them. Besides the $100 a month he is allowed as trustee, he is also allowed enough to pay his expenses should he met with sickness or injury. He is to use a part of the income from the real property to pay his life insurance premiums, the insurance being payable to estate of the wife.
Mrs. Josephine Ladd, of Maiden, Mass.; a sister of Mrs. Steel, is given $100, Charles E. Warrens, a son-in-law; is given $500 to be held by him in trust for his children, Charles K. Warrens and Frances K. Warrens.
James F. Ewing is given $500 to be held by him in trust for his children, Thomas D. Ewing and Margaret Ewing. Harry M. Walthew, of Seattle, another son-in-law, is given $250 in trust for his son, Robert S. Walthew.
