Captain Yauch married Anna M. Thompson on June 2, 1907 in Brooklyn. They had at least 1 known child together; Joseph F. Yauch, born about a year & a half later. Anna died in 1911 and the Captain remarried, to Clara L. Carpenter. It's unknown if they had children together, but if they did, they died in infancy or early childhood.

The Captain died at age 53.

—- At his residence, 1557 Fulton st, on Thursdav. June 13, 1918, Joseph H., the beloved, husband of Clara L. Yauch (nee Carpenter ). The funeral services will, take place at the Thirteenth Regiment Armory, in the Veteran Assembly Room, Sunday, 2 p.m. Relatives and friends, also Central Lodge No. 361, F. and A. M,; Kismet Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S.; Aurora Grata Consistory and other Scottish Rite bodies, as well as the Veteran Association of the Thirteenth Coast Artillery are invited to attend.

CAPTAIN J. H. YAUCH DIES
Captain Joseph H. Yauch, formerly commander of Company H, Thirteenth Regiment, N. G. S. N. Y., died yesterday of heart trouble at his residence, 1557 Fulton street.

His body will lie in state tomorrow in the Thirteenth Regiment Armory, and the funeral services, at 2 p.m., will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. W. C. P. Rhoades, The interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Captain Yauch was born on Columbia street, South Brooklyn.

His father, the late Friedland Yauch, established a retail drygoods business at 317-319 Columbia street, in 1860, and the business was continued there after his death by his son until five years ago.

Mr. Yauch then sold the building and went to upper Fulton street, where he bought two buildings and opened a store at Nos. 1555 and 1657, where he was engaged in business at the time of his death.

Captain Yauch enlisted in the Thirteenth Regiment as a young man. He was president of the Veterans Association of the regiment and had been connected with it altogether for thirty years.

He was also a member of Central Lodge, No. 361, F. and A. M. and Kismet Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

He is survived bv his wife. Clara L. Carpenter; a son, Joseph F. Yauch; his mother, Sophia L. Biggers; two sisters. Mrs. Frederick Slefken and Mrs. William J. M. Lewis, and a half-sister, Miss Louise Biggers, an opera singer In the Aborn Company.

JOSEPH YAUCH

Joseph H. Yauch died yesterday at his home, 1557 Fulton street.

He was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 4, 1864, and is survived by his widow, Clara; one son, Joseph F.; his mother, Sophia L. Biggers, and three sisters, Mrs. Amelia C. Lewis, Mrs. Gertrude L. Siefken and Miss Louise M. Biggers.

He was a member of Central Lodge No. 361, F. and A. M.; the Scottish Rite Lodge and of Kismet Temple, A. O. Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He had been an active member of the Thirteen Clud.

On December 4, 1882, he enlisted in Company H, Thirteenth Infantry, N. G. N. Y. and won a medal presented by the State for 15 years service.

On April 29, 1899, he was commissioned Captain of Infantry by Theodore Roosevelt, then Governor, and was assigned to Company H of the Thirteenth. He retained this assignment until he was forced by ill health to retire in 1902, after serving 20 years.

He later became active in the Veterans Association. He was serving his second term as president of this association at the time of his death.

The body will lie in state in the Thirteenth Armory, Sumner and Jefferson avenues on Sunday. Services will be held in the Veterans Room at 2 P. M. by the Rev. Dr. Rhodes, pastor emeritus of the Marcy Avenue Baptist Church and chaplain of the Veterans Association. Worshipful Ralph Seabury, master of Lodge F. and A. M., will have charge of the Masonic services. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

After the Captain's passing, his widow Clara fought to obtain custody of her step-son Joseph F. from the Captain's mother. Mrs Biggers refused to return him after he had come to stay for a bit after his father's sudden passing.

✞ Captain Joseph Henry Yauch is buried in the Yauch family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in his hometown of Brooklyn. He's with his parents and 1st wife, along with others. A full list has not been obtained. His name is not inscribed on the tombstone.
His 2nd wife, Clara C. Yauch, is buried in a different section at Green-Wood.
