Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 41, Lot 3022.
This old lot is located at the top of steep hill that, in August of 1776, was defended unsuccessfully by colonists in the Battle of Brooklyn. Burials here are deep. There are 31 burials in this lot—but only 4 stones stand here—and 2 of them are completely illegible.

---Far right in the photo is a stone upon which the name George Wetsell can clearly be seen. But burial records show no one of that name interred here. It is most likely that the illegible portion of the stone once said something like “buried in New Jersey.”
