Obituary - Van Orden - An old and well known citizen of Brooklyn died this (Wednesday) morning, in the person of Andrew Van Orden. He expired at the residence of his son-in-law, W.E. Van Norden, 266 Fulton avenue. The resemblance - but not identity - between the names of the parties is curious. Mr. Van Orden was 72 years of age, and had lived about thirty-five years in Brooklyn. He was very well known at one time as the keeper of the only "Temperance" public house in the Second Ward. He was a Democrat in politics, active and energetic, fond of expressing his views to everybody about everything. In the early days of the city he was an assistant captain of police at the Court street station. He was a good natured and worthy old man, and his death will be heard of by many old citizens with regret.
