Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 200, Lot 27009.
On this lot stand 5 monuments, only 2 of which bear any legible text—an Arlington-style military monument installed as part of Green-Wood''s ongoing Civil War project; an impressive monument featuring a fireman's statue, erected by the Brooklyn Fire Department. Both monuments are tributes to the same man, William J. Chin (variously spelled "Chinn"), Civil War veteran and Brooklyn fireman, who survived the war only to die in the line of duty as a fireman. The other 3 stones on the lot are almost or entirely illegible.

Brooklyn Fire Department,
Who was killed by being thrown from a supply wagon while in the discharge of his duty as a fireman on the morning of December 28th 1889, aged 49 years, 11 months 18 days.
This memorial stone has been erected by his comrades of the Brooklyn Fire Department as a fitting testimonial to one of their comrades who perished in the discharge of his duty.

---Stone at the rear right of the lot is illegible, but is most likely for Mary Chin, a daughter of William and Emma who was moved from a previous grave and reinterred here the same day as her father, April 3 1899.
