Obituary: April 7, 1922:
John Whitson Seaman, 79 years old, of Wantagh, L. I., formerly the assistant cashier of the Nassau National Bank of Brooklyn and until ten years ago a resident for many years in Brooklyn, died on Friday at the residence of his daughter at 1236 Pacific St., where he was spending the winter. The funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Lefferts Place Chapel, 86 Lefferts pl, the Rev. William B. Allis, pastor of the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, officiating. The interment will be in greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Seaman was born in Jerusalem, L. I, the name of the place now being Wantagh. He served during the Civil War in the 197th Regt., N. Y. Volunteers and was a member of the Winchester Post, No. 197, G.A.R. He was by birth a Quaker. He had been connected with the Nassau National Bank for 44 years at the time of his retirement in 1910. Mr. Seaman is survived by two sons, David F. Seaman of Providence, R. I., and Henry L. Seaman of Nyack, N. Y., and two daughters, Miss Mary E. Seaman and Mrs. Gertrude B. Rollins of Woodstock, Conn.
