ARLENE SONNENBURG

Arlene M. Sonnenburg, age 92, currently residing at 3600 Woodman Drive, Appleton, formerly of Manitowoc, died early on Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2007, at her residence.

Arlene was born on Sept. 30, 1915, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Severt and Margaret (Knutson) Terkelson. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc.

On Dec. 16, 1933, she married Maurice Goehring at Gjerpen Lutheran Church, Valders. He preceded her in death in June of 1978.

In September of 1985, she married Marvin Sonnenburg at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. He preceded her in death in April of 1994.

She was active in many church and community organizations. Arlene was also employed part-time for many years, at the Book & Gift Shop in Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; one brother and sister-in-law; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one grandson; and one sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church, 255 Roosevelt St., Valders. Presiding at the service will be the Revs. Melissa Maltman and Wendy Wirth-Brock, with burial at Gjerpen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 17,
2007, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, 202 Liberty St., Valders. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church, from 10 a.m., until the time of service at 11 am. The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Theda Hospice Care for their care and compassion, shown towards Arlene and her family.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and to Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, and Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton.
