He left Milton farm where he was born at age 22. worked at Fayette Coal mines in Feb 1902 and started as an ice tumbler (gears) at a foundry in Huntington. Then he started work on the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad Jan 25 1911 and retired from there. He lived at 2042 11th Ave. for over 50 years. His sister Rebecca wrote in 1945 that he had 4 children by his first wife and 4 grandchildren. His face was burned when he was young and he had soft skin all of his life. He had no children by his second wife but left her his full estate and almost nothing to his only surviving son and grandchildren. She in turn left everything to her own children by her first husband.

Ezra Walker Beckett- 85y old, 2042 Eleventh Ave, who died yesterday in a Huntington hospital will be buried in Spring Hill Cem following funeral services Sat. at 1:30pm at the Walnut Hills Church of the Nazarene of which he was a member with Rev. J.C. Brillhart officiating. He was a retired employee of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, Born in Cabell Co. son of late Mr. and Mrs. Emza Beckett. Survivors include the widow Mrs. Rilla Lyon Beckett, a son Clarence Beckett of Baltimore, and 6 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Reger Funeral Home aft 10am today. [one great grandchild born in 1962 not mentioned]
