He married twice having 6 children with the first, Eliz H Mason and 2 more with the second, Sarah Talbot. 5 children died young. He lived 81 years.
Gardner Peck's name appeared before the public in 1821 as a graduate with the degree of Doctor of Medicine at Brown University, Providence, RI. He settled in Foxborough, MA. He soon acquired a large measure of public confidence, and his practice became widely extended. After a professional life of about fifteen years, the fatigues and privations of a country practice became intolerable, and he resolved to abandon it. He accordingly gave notice of his intentions, and at a time fixed discontinued his professional services, except in special cases. He afterwards engaged in manufacturing business. In the autumn of 1838, he removed to the city of New York, and entered into mercantile business, in which he continued until his retirement in 1864. Since then he has taken considerable interest in the mining business of the country, and is understood to be president of one or two New York Mining Companies.
