In 1901 he was a Metal Merchant staying at a lodging house in Eastbourne, Sussex, with his wife Lucy, daughter Edith Muriel 19, and son Horace Stanley 17, while their two younger daughters, Constance Eleanor 14 and Florence Beatrice 10, were at school in Eastbourne. He could not be found in England in 1891 and 1911.
