MRS. ALICE KOONS DIES WEDNESDAY; RITES SATURDAY
Mrs. Alice Koons, widow of George W. Koons, former assistant postmaster of Elwood, died at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday night at her home.
Born Nov. 9, 1868 in Union county, she was the daughter of David and Ellen Harrison Gray.
She married George Koons, Aug. 19, 1891. He died Feb. 16, 1952. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church.
Survivors include a son, Howard living near Elwood and a daughter, Miss Esther Koons, at home, an instructor in the local high school, two sisters, Miss Doris Gray and Mrs. Lorene Hilbert of Elwood, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The body was returned today from the York Memorial home to the residence where friends may call after 4 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon at First Presbyterian church with Rev. H. J. Jordan in charge. Burial will be made in Elwood City cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 1 o'clock.
