Age 78, he was a son of the late Arthur and Evelyn Lantz Wallin.

Duane graduated from Mount Jewett High School and received his degree from St. Mary's (Calif.) College. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He worked for General Electric Co. and owned Wally's Parking Lot and Books Galore on Peach Street. He served as chairman of the Erie Parking Authority and co-owned the East Coast Hockey League's Erie Panthers and Baton Rouge (La.) Kingfish. He also helped develop the King's Rook Club and Spinner McGee's Steakhouse & Saloon. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Swanson; and a brother, Eugene Wallin.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Verostek Wallin; a son, James Wallin of McKean; a daughter, Patricia Nazarian and her husband, Paul, of Wattsburg; two sisters, Donna Adair and her husband, Don, and June Morgan and her husband, Jim, all of Mount Jewett; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Burial will be at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
