She married 1st John Smith Bradley on May 12,1892 on the Hubbard Farm in rural Clark, Randolph, MO. From this union were born two children: Omar Nelson and Raymond Calvert. After John Smith passed, she married John Robert "Bob" Maddox on Dec 25, 1910 in Huntsville, Randolph, MO.
After Bessie's sister Ida Jane passed away in 1896, John and Bessie raised her two daughters Nettie Ophelia and Opal Minnie Bogie.

--Mrs. J. R. Maddox Dies; Funeral to be Thursday--Mrs. Bessie Bradley Maddox, 56, a lifelong Randolph Countian, died at 9 o'clock last night at her home on Sparks avenue. She had been ill for the past eight weeks of paralysis. Mrs. Maddox is survived by her husband, J. R. Maddox; by one son, Major O. N. Bradley, Fort Benning, Ga.; by two stepsons, David Russell Maddox, New York, and Charles William Maddox, St. Louis; by one brother, Ervin Hubbard of Johnstown, Pa.; by two step sisters, Mrs. A. E. Oldham, St. Louis and Mrs. Gene Olds, Slater; by her step-mother, Mrs. Clay Hubbard, St Louis; by a granddaughter, Mrs Osborn, of Columbia; and a number of nieces and nephews two of whom, Mrs. W. E.
