The picture at bottom left is a cedar stick 3 1/2 inches long and just over 1/4" square. Pvt. Thomas Jefferson Barron of the 14th Alabama Inf. Regt. carved it from a piece of cedar wood. Written in ink on the four long sides of the stick:
