US Army Brigadier General Joseph Robinson was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Anti-Aircraft Officer, 5th Army, from 1943 to 1944.

He was also awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer, 34th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade.

He was survived by his six children: six children: Michel, Alice, Gilbert, Odile, Hugh and Elizabeth.
