Walter and Dorothy later divorced. Walter remarried to Margaret Helen Cross on May 29, 1942 in Fort Worth, TX. They had two children:
Stephan Paul Belcher (1945 - still living)
Margaret Susan Belcher (1948 - still living)

Obituary published March 2, 1970 in Arlington Heights, IL:

"Walter E. Belcher, 56, of Libertyville, died Thrusday at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plains following a short illness.  Funeral Service was held on Saturday at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, Libertyville.  The Rev. Donald R. Priestly presided.  Interment was at Willow Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Mundelein.

Surviving are his widow, Margaret; two sons, Steven of Mount Prospect, and Walter of Maryland; and a daughter Margaret Susan, at home."
