Robert was born Dec. 24, 1904, in Provo, Utah, the son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Eliza Smith Stewart, Jr. He married Ora Pate on August 13, 1935. She preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1990. Served his country during World War II. He planned and mapped the African Campaign reporting only to General Eisenhower. He was a pioneer in aviation and close friend to Jimmy Doolittle and Charles Lindberg.Survivors include four sons and two daughters: Sharon (Ray) Nielson, Salt Lake City; Robert (Naomi) Stewart, Jr., Spanish Fork; Janet (Edward) Geary, Provo; Allen (Cirilia) Stewart, West Valley City; David (Lucy) Stewart, Denver, Colo.; Glenda Stewart (deceased), Wendell Stewart, Alameda, Calif.; one brother, Pat Stewart; 39 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three brothers, Quinby, Allen, and Sam; four sisters, Addie Nelson, Lucille Conyers, Theresa Bondshea, and Marquerite Olstowski.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 1996, 12 noon, at the Olympus First Ward, 4100 South Camille (2480 East). Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the services. Interment, Honor Guard, and dedication of grave 2:15 p.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State, Provo, Utah.
