Mrs. Gertie Lee Barber, 74, died Wednesday, July 5, in St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.

Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, in Holy Sanctuary Church of God in Christ, with Elder Roger Weeks of Pampa and Elder C.B. Smith, of Amarillo officiating.

Pallbearers were Robert Barber, Claude Barber, Glenn Barber, Jimmie Barber, Jr., Jessie Barber and Joseph Thomas.

Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Barber was born in Ladonia, Texas on October 10, 1914, the daughter of Florence and Jim Boyd.

In 1933, she married the Rev. Jim Armstrong, who preceded her in death.

On December 28, 1943, she was married to Allen Barber. He also preceded her in death.

The family lived in Pampa before returning to Wellington.

She was a member of the Holy Sanctuary Church of God in Christ.

Her son, County Commissioner Jimmie Barber, was pastor there until his death in April, 1989.

Surviving Mrs. Barber are four daughters, Elizabeth Dickey of Artesia, New Mexico, Florence Dyson of Los Angeles; Jeanetta Barber and Gwendolyn Barber, both of Amarillo; three sons, Robert Allen Barber and Claude Barber, both of Phoenix, Arizona andGlenn Curtis Barber of Amarillo; four sisters, Irene Givens and Paralee Davis, both of Wellington; Earsell Hopkins of Pampa, Clarice Boyd of Austin; two brothers, N.D. Boyd of Fort Worth and Wilmer Dell Boyd of Pampa.

There are 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
