Harry Joel "Jim" Joel
Birth: 1895
Death: Mar. 23, 1992, England

Great-nephew of Barney Barnato (q.v.) and a director of De Beers diamond company. Noted racehorse owner and trainer who won the Derby in 1969 with his horse 'Royal Palace' and the Grand Naitonal in 1987 with 'Maori Venture'. His tombstone is inscribed with a wholly apt quotation from Psalm 20: 'Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God'. (bio by: David Conway)
