The funeral service for Walter E. Frohling, 88, Aberdeen, and formerly of Hecla will be 10:30am, Monday, May 10, 2010, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jais Tinglund officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Walter entered into eternal life with his loving wife at his side, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Mother Joseph Manor.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm, Sunday, with a prayer service at 7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.

Walter Edward Frohling was born August 12, 1921 at Hecla, SD to Jacob & Zena (Stolle) Frohling. He was baptized on August 28, 1921 and confirmed on April 14, 1935 at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Hecla. Walter grew up and helped on the family farm. He attended school in Liberty Township, rural Hecla.

Walter married the one who stole his heart, Mae Anderson on October 28, 1945 at the family farm in Hecla. They continued to farm in Liberty Township.

Walter was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, rural Hecla. He was on the Board of Directors for the Frederick Coop and was an ASCS Brown County Committeeman. Walter enjoyed pitching horseshoes, woodworking, playing cards, bowling, and playing pool. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with the kids. Walter was active in, and loved running the sawmill at James Valley Threshers. He enjoyed many family gatherings and took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Walter was a very humble man. He loved traveling to Colorado to visit his family.

Grateful for having shared Walter's life are his wife, Mae Frohling, Aberdeen, children, Phyllis Hochhalter, Brighton, CO, Betty (Ward) Gilchrist, Aberdeen, Jerry (Margie) Frohling, Valparaiso, IN, Renee (Barry) Idler, Aberdeen, Deborah (Skip) Klapperich, Conde, Tamara (Bob) Schweigert, Aberdeen, Terry (Wendy) Frohling, Hecla, sisters, Valera Dusel, Casper, WY, Louise Babb, Pelican Rapids, MN, brother, Ernest "Bud" (Elaine) Frohling, Hecla, sister-in-law, Regina Frohling, Aberdeen, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Everett Frohling, John Frohling, sisters, Tena Widstrom, Frances West, Angela Frohling, one granddaughter, Robyn, one grandson, Michael and two infant sisters.
