Ted Rose - JOHNSON CITY
Ted F. Rose, 71, 1005 Somerset Dr., Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 18, 2010, at Christian Care Center, Johnson City, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Rose was a Johnson City native and a son of Nora Pierce Rose, Johnson City, and the late Farel Rose.
He worked in Real Estate until disabled and early in his career was responsible for bringing Century 21 to Johnson City. As a boy, Mr. Rose delivered newspapers and later worked for the Johnson City Press Chronicle in the newsroom and the Washington Post, Washington, D.C.
He also remodeled houses and worked hard all of his life until Parkinson's Disease forced him to retire.
Mr. Rose was the first member of Harvest Time Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee.
He was a member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Rose loved listening to gospel music.
He was a very humble person, loved doing for others, and always saw good in people.
In addition to his father, Mr. Rose was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Rose and Greg Rose.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Onks-Rose, Johnson City; two daughters, Katie Greene and husband Clarke, Knoxville, and Kathie Lewis and husband Billy Joe, Harmony Community, Jonesborough; three step-children, Tony Onks and wife Marianne, Brett Onks and Jennifer Onks Hovatter, all of Johnson City; one sister, Jeanette Spears, Nashville; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Toni Onks, whom he loved very much; one niece and one nephew.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Adams officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Jackson, David Lowe, McDowell, Mike Laird, Don Alford and Buck Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hunter and Randy Greene.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
