DEFREESTVILLE -- Preget Funaro Herbert , age 84 years, died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mechanicville, she was the daughter of the late Florence Genovese and Frank Funaro. She was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Amsterdam. During her nursing career, she worked at the former Leonard Hospital in Troy and as office nurse for Drs. Gavin and Sullivan of Defreestville and Drs. Lewis and Kaftal of Troy. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Rensselaer, she was a member of their Altar Rosary Society and a 20 year participant in their women's bowling league. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, James F. Herbert , Sr. of Defreestville and their children, Eileen Herbert of East Greenbush, James F. (Anna) Herbert , Jr. of Rensselaer and Judy (Gerald) Wainman of Defreestville; grandmother of Kristy Poindexter, Erin Buckley, Jaime and Josh Wainman, Jessica, Kevin, Brian and Melissa Herbert ; great-grandmother of Lauren Guynup; sister of Anthony Funaro of Dahlonega, GA, Louise Fantauzzi Spratt, Dominick Funaro and Francis Funaro, all of Mechanicville and the late Mary Fuschino and Joseph Funaro. In celebration of her love and devotion to God and family, a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will take place from the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Tuesday afternoon at 12 and 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 1620 Third Street, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday 4 to 7 p.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Joseph's-St. John's Academy, 1641 Third Street, Rensselaer 12144, c/o Sister Kathleen Pritty, made in her memory, would be appreciated.
