John was born May 20, 1953 to Charles Glen Asher and Lillian J. Wisser in Peoria, Illinois.
John was married to Susie J. Asher on July 2nd in Salt Lake City.
John was in the United States Marine Corp and received the National Defense Service Medal, the 1st Awd on February 1, 1971, and the Good Conduct Medal.
After service in the military, John worked as a journeyman plumber for public schools.
John enjoyed camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved to always cook, especially barbeque.
John was a very friendly, outgoing person who always made people laugh. He had a glorious sense of humor and he loved socializing and providing guidance assistance to friends and family.
John will be remembered for his compassion, intelligence, courage, and courtesy.
This is only a farewell for now, until we reunite again!
John is survived by his loving children, Bennie Roman (Jeanette) Asher and Monica Marlena Asher; his best friend and ex-wife, Susie; his mother, Pat Asher; sisters, Debbie, Taylor (Dave), Susan (Bill), Virginia, and Charlotte (Dave); his brother, Scott Asher; his grandchildren, Moriah and Jesus Lopez and Brittany, Nick, and Ben Gonzales; and his great-grandchild, Kayzen.

A viewing will be held at the Cottonwood-Murray Elks Lodge, 4894 South State Street (100 East), Murray, on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in his honor in the LDS Church at 420 South 800 East in Salt Lake City at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park on Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale; date and time to be determined.
