PERRY RECORD, Thursday, October 26, 1905: Centenarian Called--Mrs. Sarah Watson Andrews, the oldest resident of this county and one of the oldest persons in the state, died at the home of her grandson, Charles T. Walker of Silver Springs on Monday of this week, aged nearly 103 years. A correspondent of the Democrat & Chronicle gave the following history of her life: Mrs. Andrews was born in Bennington, Vt., November 28, 1802 and grew to womanhood in that town. Her grandfather, Jonathan Stratton, was a soldier of the Revolution and her father fought in the War of 1812. She was a descendant of the Purtian colonists of New England and the oldest daughter of the American Revolution in the US.

She left Vermont in 1827 and went to Darien, Genesee county, to live with her sister and aunt. She was married at that place on November 21, 1830 to Jasper Andrews of Groton, NY. In 1833 the family moved to Machias and in 1861 to Oramel, Allegany county. Mr. Andrews died November 29, 1893 at the age of 88 years and a few months later Mrs. Andrews went to Silver Springs to live with her daughter, (Jane Walker).

Besides Mrs. Walker, she leaves one son, Horatio Andrews of Leslie, Michigan; two grandchildren, Charles Walker and Mrs. Ella Hyde who live in Silver Springs. Mrs. Walker was a remarkable woman retaining her physical vigor to a wonderful degree and her mind was unimpaired. She retained a keen interest in her family, friends and neighbors and in all affairs of the day. She was a great reader, especially of newspapers. Her death was caused by a suffusion of blood on the brain.
