DECATUR - George Franklin King, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday (Jan. 17, 2004) in Manor Care Nursing Home, Davenport.


Graveside services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana, with Masonic rites. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Masonic Lodge 226, Pana.

Mr. King was born July 4, 1922, in Kincaid, the son of Albert F. and Jenny Ann Henderson King. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1986 with 30 years service at several facilities, most recently Konek, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois for 55 years, Decatur York Rite Masonry, past master of Tower Hill Lodge and Moline American Legion Post 246. He married Irene Mannix on Dec. 3, 1949, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Rebecca King of Decatur; daughter, Kathleen King of Davenport; grandson, Alexander King of Decatur; granddaughter, Jennifer King of Normal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen M. Beyers; and two infant sons
