Diana was a prominent attorney, devoted mother, wife, daughter, and friend to many.
Born January 30, 1952 in San Francisco, Diana practiced law in Los Angeles for thirty-two years. She graduated from UC Berkeley and UOP McGeorge School of Law where she earned numerous honors.
A shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, she was chair of the L.A. employment group and past co-chair of the firm's national labor practice. Diana wrote and spoke extensively on labor issues and trial practices. Active in L.A. County Bar committees, she served on Boards of the University of California Press and McGeorge Alumni. Diana was named 2007 Woman of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, L.A. chapter.
Diana is survived by her mother LaVina D. Scott, husband Nicholas Gumas, daughter Alexis Beechen, sister LaVina Thompson, brother James F. Scott, Jr., aunt Orchid Donnelly, and nephews Christopher and Michael. Her father James F. Scott, Sr., also an attorney, predeceased her.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church, 504 North Camden Drive, Beverly Hills. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village, 1218 Glendon Avenue, Westwood.
Diana was a true leader in all she did, a woman of many "firsts", gracious, charming, witty, fashionable to a tee, optimistic and with a talent for putting others first. Her joy of life will continue to inspire us.
