Yorktown, Jan. 28.— Funeral services for Miss Mary W. Newman, of Norfolk. daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Newman, of this county. who died Sunday at Blue Ridge Sanitarium after & long illness were held here this morning at Grace Episcopal Church with burial in the family plot In the churchyard.
Miss Newman was well known throughout this section having been born in the county and having lived for many years at Stony Point, a farm on York River. Which is now included in the Navy Mine Depot. As a faithful member of the Comte de Grasse Chapter, D. A. R, she rendered great service as custodian of the customs house for three years
Miss Newman is survived by three sisters. Hunter Wynn, of James County; Mrs. Charles McDermott and Miss Ada Newman of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews.
