PEORIA - Elmer T. Riegel, 94, of 1125 S. Schmidt Ave. died at 1:25 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2000, at his residence.

Born Oct. 4, 1905, in Braymer, Mo., to Ion and Dora Severns Riegel, he married Luella Reiser on Dec. 17, 1941, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Gladys (and Jim) Brooks of Modesto, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

He was the owner-operator of Del Mar Beauty and Barber Shop for 40 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville for five years.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bartonville, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ronald Palmer will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with recitation of the rosary at 7:45 p.m. Visitation also will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
