Russell C. Yacobet, 78, of Cromwell Avenue, Geneva, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Inn-Madison Health Center in Madison.

Mr. Yacobet was born June 29, 1919, in Republic, Pa.

He was retired from the Mentor school district, where he worked in the maintenance department. He served with the U. S. Army between 1943 and 1945.

Mr. Yacobet was a member of Geneva Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Geneva, Ashtabula and Eastlake, and was a greeter and usher at Severance Hall in Cleveland.

In his leisure time he enjoyed building dollhouses, painting and hanging wallpaper.

Survivors include his wife, the former Irene Lantz, whom he married Jan. 20, 1994, in Geneva; two daughters, Loretta Merck of Salem, S.C., and Diane Gilbert of Euclid; three grandchildren, Toni Hart of Euclid, Kim Patterson of Westminster, S. C., and Wayne Roland of Walhalla, S. C.; three step-daughters, Betty Thompson, Shirley Wilcox and Sue Pierce, all of Geneva; two great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret, and one grandchild.
