Margaret R. Matzick, 62, of Brighton, passed away on October 28, 2010 in Louisville. She was born on November 20, 1947 to Patrick and Helen (Dergans) Reilly in Washington, DC.
Margaret graduated high school from St. Gertrude Academy in Boulder and received her Bachelors' of Arts from the University of Colorado and a Master's degree from the University of Denver. She married Doug Matzick on August 31, 1983 in Denver.
Margaret has lived in the Brighton area since 1963. She worked as a social worker for the City & County of Denver for more than 25 years. She also worked as a social worker at Platte Valley Medical Center for five years and was a substitute teacher for Brighton 27J schools.
Most recently Margaret was volunteering as a tour scheduler for the Denver capital building and was a volunteer at Holy Family High School with the drama, music and student council.
She loved her trips to Rico and enjoyed her travels around the world. She was devoted to her daughter and enjoyed time with her dog, Reilly.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Helen Matzick, of Brighton and brother-in-law, Ken (Amy) Matzick of Arvada. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doug, in 2003.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 1:00pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
