Physician, Specialist in Internal Medicine. In 1919 he became a professor at the Aichi Prefectural School of Medicine, and in 1923 he began working as a professor (internal medicine) at the same institution in his new status as Aichi Medical School. He did extensive research in the field of hematology, at the age of 39, he received the Imperial Japan Academy Award. In 1949 he was the third president of Nagoya University.
