Rev. William Henry Horner was the second of six children born to William M. and Julia A. Horner. He was the husband of Emma J. (Tindley) Horner. They were married August 11, 1925. Emma died February 23, 1970. Rev.Horner was a minister in the Delaware Conference/Genesee (now Western New York) Conference and Western Pennsylvania Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church/The Methodist Church/United Methodist Church.

HORNER.--Funeral services for the Rev. William H. Horner, age 84, pastor of Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church, 641 Masten Ave., for 36 years, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Mr. Horner died Tuesday in the Beechwood Nursing Home, Amherst. Burial will be in Forest Lawn. Mr. Horner was pastor emeritus of Lincoln Memorial, where he served as pastor from 1929 t0 1965. Under Mr. Horner's leadership, the congregation purchased the Masten Avenue sanctuary in 1954. He was secretary-treasurer of the Buffalo District Conference of the United Methodist Church for 34 years and represented it at the 1956 General Conference in Minneapolis. He was a delegate to the 1960 and 1964 General Conferences in Denver and Pittsburgh, respectively. While serving at Lincoln Memorial, Mr. Horner was a guest preacher at more than 70 pulpits throughout Western New York and directed the Summer Institute for Youth at Silver Lake. Active in community affairs, he had served on the board of directors of the Buffalo Urban League, the Travelers Aid Society of Buffalo and Western New York and the National Travelers Aid Association. He also had been a member of the old Buffalo and Erie County Health Board, the Equality Club, the Mental Health Association of Erie County and the old Meyer Memorial Hospital Board. Mr. Horner served as pastor of Warren United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh and North Ridge United Methodist Church in Lockport after leaving Lincoln Memorial. He also traveled to Alaska with the U.S. Air Force Chaplains Corps and toured South America on a trip sponsored by the National Board of Missions.
