The Shirahata Shrine was built to honor a legendary warrior named Yoshitsune (1159-1189), to deify him as the guardian god of the village. The villagers buried Yoshitsune's head in a grave at the shrine to express their deep sympathy and respect for the warrior, following his tragic death. One can have an audience with his spirit there.
