He was Scotch-Irish and is probably buried at a Presbyterian Cemetery. His burial location is not mentioned in his daugter's, Mary Martha Smith Reid, papers.

In the name of God, Amen. I, James Smith of the town of St. Mary's in Co. of Camden and State of Georgia, Tanner and Currier, being sick and weak in body but of soul mind, memory and understanding, blessed be God for same--

Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following-, that is to say, Principally and first of all I recommend my immortal soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner. And as to such wordly estate were with it bath pleased Gad to bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following, to wit:

1st. I order and direct that my funeral expenses and the nursing trouble and expense of my friend, Samuel McLearn of the Diocese of Southwark in the County of Philadelphia, be fully paid and satisfied together with 40 Guineas which is to be placed in the hands of John Moorhead, or in the absence, Joseph Cumming of Savannah in State of Georgia, for the purpose of being remitted to my brother, Joseph Smith of Belfast Ireland, for the sole use and benefit of my mother, Elizabeth Smith.
