Mary Joanna MILLARD was the daughter of Joshua and Ann Manning Millard,the 13th child of 13, born 1826 in Washington, DC. She married Josiah Nichol Armstrong 12 Oct 1847. who died 8 Feb 1857 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Following his death, she returned to St. Mary's County, Maryland, to live with her mother and family members on the family farm, "Bellville". At the time of her death in 1903, she was living on N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md, with her sister, Rebecca Millard Britton. How she came to be transported to and be buried in Rock Creek Cemetery is not known.
