Actress. She was Mexican-born stage and motion picture figure of the 1920s through the 1980s. She is regarded as the first major female Latin American crossover star in Hollywood. She received three Silver Ariel awards during her career, the Mexican equivalent of the Academy Award. Born María de los Dolores Asúnsolo y López Negrete, she was the cousin of actor Ramon Novarro. In 1960 she was honored with a Star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
